The term "management" characterizes a holistic process that pursues clearly defined targets by means of planned actions. There is a multitude of scientific essays about how management processes should be structured and implemented. EuPD Research | Management & Controlling analyzes the practical configuration of these processes by studying the sequence and impact of partial steps as well as the efficiency of goal attainment. In this context, scientific model development is less in the spotlight. Instead, we stress the support and consulting of companies or organizations regarding planning and implementation processes.
Due to the increasing complexity of the working environment, strategic management gains importance. Many processes need good planning and continuous revision if they are to remain controllable.
The employment of interim managers in the German private economy
  Interviewed companies/methods:
For the survey, 1,500 companies of ten branches were interviewed based on a standardized questionnaire. Contact persons were heads of personnel departments, board members, executive directors as well as members of the press department.

  The most important results:
In Germany, interim management is not yet widespread. Many companies do not have an “emergency guide”, and are thus exposed to diverse risks.

The most important operational areas of interim managers are project management and the executive/management board.

Due to lacking controlling and reporting activities, the use of interim managers often cannot be evaluated in the aftermath.

  Added value of the survey:
The survey gives an extensive insight into the state of German interim management and provides answers to the questions concerning the practical commitment as well as the integration of temporary managers in the company. How much influence can and should an interim manager have in order to be successful for the enterprise? What is appropriate payment? Is the employment worthwhile only in case of urgent problems or also for self-contained projects?
